Katie Shake was born in Anchorage, Alaska on February 8th, 1997. She has lived in Alaska her whole life and is now a senior here at West High. Her older sister Kristen who is 28 and her older brother Willie who is 25 also went to West as well as her father Bob who graduated in 1978. Katie has participated in the sports here at west such as volleyball and flag football. Her favorite star moment was in volleyball “I’d have to say getting the winning point against Dimond High School who is our biggest rival was my favorite star moment” Katie explained.

Her favorite sport was playing flag football, she was the team kicker and played on offense as defensive end. She lettered in both sports which she feels was a big accomplishment throughout high school. Katies has set high goals for herself throughout school, her best accomplishment this year is she passing first semester with flying colors and her goal to achieve by the end of the school year is to graduate.

After she graduates she is planning on going to Colorado Mesa to begin college. She plans to study physical therapy and sports medicine. Katie finds it fascinating because she has had to deal with problems herself from past sport injuries. Katie loves going to sporting events to support her school and show off her school spirit, one of her favorite games to watch is the Boys Varsity Hockey. She managed the team last year and grew closer to the hockey players. Katie states “I’ve grown up watching hockey and being around hockey players so I’m use to the sport.” Katie has accomplished a lot of set goals and has made the best out of her senior year, she looks forward to graduating and starting her life.
