Eagle's Cry

Annika Morris, Reporter

Annika Morris is in West Anchorage High School’s class of 2021. She was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and though she has only ever lived in Anchorage, she often travels to other states and countries. Traveling is a large part of Morris’s life, for she has gone to 21 different countries so far. She often flies to the Arctic, from Alaska’s Arctic territory to places such as Norway, Iceland, Sweden, and Finland. Her favorite city is St. Petersburg, Russia because it is a sprawling, spectacular city, and almost every building is a palace.

Morris also enjoys drawing, writing, photography, reading, and her sports teams. In fact, one of Morris’s favorite family traditions is the annual trip to Seattle she takes to watch the Mariners play. She loves the Mariners and Seahawks, and she has remained loyal to them throughout the years. She practically bleeds blue, green, and teal. She has also forced the family tradition of going to Spring Training, the baseball preseason training, every spring break, and it has become the highlight of her year. She usually goes with her dad, and they see about six games in the span of the week.

Morris has six pets: three cats and three dogs. Her cats are just about her favorite things in the world, even though it is their fault she can never wear any black clothing. She has two ragdolls and a Siamese. In addition, Morris has a little brother named Jack, though she more often calls him “Tiny.”

After she finishes her academic career, Morris wants to be a sports journalist or a graphic designer living in Seattle. In the meantime, she is very academically-focused, setting high goals for herself and working hard to accomplish them. Right now, she is in West High’s Honors Gifted program.
